Batgirl in the Stacks: A Library Superhero

Batgirl is well-known as a crime fighter and detective, but her alter-ego (Barbara Gordon) also worked as a librarian at the Gotham City Public Library. This presentation will take a look at the early years of Batgirl's library career (from 1966 - 1968) comparing the third season of the 1960s "Batman" TV show and with the comics of the same era. This presentation will seek to clarify precisely what kind of library work Barbara Gordon did and how that impacted her work as Batgirl.

Panelist:

  • Christy Allen, Associate Director for Digital and Resource Management. Furman University Libraries
